The fish in the Reid and Free Co. design is a direction message.
We live in a world of self-centeredness. I don't mean that to sound so harsh, but that's what it is. Everyone around is me, my happiness, my feelings, how everything reflects back to me. Those top and bottom fish represent that. They're going with the current, weighed down by their shadows. But the middle fish is different. It's going the opposite direction, and it's lighter.
That's what it's like to walk with Jesus.
The Bible constantly reminds us of laying down our burdens and following Him. When we stop trying to carry what was never ours and start giving it to God, something changes in us and we become lighter. I'm not going to sit here and pretend that it's a straight shot and that it's easy and we won't still be consumed at times. But the most important thing we can do is run back to Him.
I find myself many times trying to carry burdens that aren't mine. It becomes a light switch moment when I remember I can give it to God and I don't have to carry it alone. The same God who sent His son to die for us.
Becoming a mom changed that understanding for me. I can't imagine allowing the things that happened to Jesus to happen to my daughter. I would've let the world fall apart for her.
And that's exactly why I am not meant to carry these burdens of the world or consume myself with the shadows that are all around. It's exactly why God is who He is and I'm not Him.
